SAVVIS Federal Systems, Inc. (SFS), a subsidiary of SAVVIS, Inc., and a global leader in IT infrastructure services for applications used by the U.S. Federal Government, has been chosen as a subcontractor to Raytheon Company on the FirstGov Web Solutions task order awarded by the Federal Systems Integration and Management Center and the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).

The task order, awarded to Raytheon under the GSA's Millennia Government-Wide Acquisition Contract from the GSA Office of Citizen Services and Communications (OCSC), will provide the hosting and technology services underpinning the FirstGov Portal and other citizen-facing government web sites. It has a potential value of up to $71 million for a one-year term, with four renewal years.

Under the terms of the subcontract with Raytheon, SFS will provide fully managed hosting, network, and professional services, including managed security, DDoS mitigation, disaster recovery, systems administration and engineering support, and project management. In addition, SFS will provide content delivery network (CDN) services supporting the FirstGov Portal.

The FirstGov Portal offers easy-to-navigate, intuitive websites from which users can manage a variety of government-administered benefits and access information relevant to their specific situations. An additional 24 government websites for citizens may be added to the service over the five years of the contract.

Leveraging more than 10 years of custom development and a heritage of exceptional network performance, SAVVIS' virtualized IT utility services delivery platform provides every piece of the IT infrastructure - network, hosting, storage and computing - on a massively scalable, pay-as-you-go basis. Combined with SAVVIS' full suite of professional services offerings, SAVVIS' "IT infrastructure as a service" is a cost-effective and flexible way to provision a total IT solution.

"The GSA FirstGov Portal is an important tool that will be used by millions of American citizens," said Don Teague, Vice President of SAVVIS Federal Systems. "We are pleased to provide the IT infrastructure services supporting the Portal and are confident that working closely with Raytheon we will create an innovative, total solution that will greatly facilitate government agencies' interactions with the people who depend on them."
