Circuit City and EarthLink Offer Easy Way for Consumers To Reduce Phone Bills

August 16, 2006; 07:27 AM

EarthLink, the nation's next generation Internet service provider (ISP), and Circuit City, one of the largest consumer electronics chains in the country today announced a deal to provide EarthLink trueVoice(SM) in Circuit City stores. Compatible with any home broadband connection, EarthLink trueVoice(SM) is a plug-and-play Internet voice solution that can work on any touch-tone phone.

Consumers with a high speed connection can now purchase EarthLink's Voice over IP (VoIP) service in Circuit City locations nationwide. It comes in a kit that includes EarthLink's Internet phone service and a Linksys Phone Adapter (SPA2002-ER) or a Wireless-G Router with 2 phone ports (WRT54GP2-ER). As an added convenience, Circuit City customers can also sign up for EarthLink trueVoice(SM) online at http://www.circuitcity.com.

"Now consumers can save money on their phone bills by shopping at Circuit City," said Kevin Flaherty, vice president of retail channel sales for EarthLink. "With EarthLink trueVoice(SM), Circuit City customers get an Internet phone service that is comparable to traditional home phone service in sound quality and supported by EarthLink's years of Internet experience."

Robert Eckard, Circuit City Digital Services Buyer added, "Circuit City is in the business of providing technologies and solutions that makes our customers' lives easier. Our growing partnership with EarthLink allows us to offer our customers a simple solution to the issue of soaring phone bill costs."

EarthLink trueVoice(SM) customers will receive unlimited local, regional and long distance calling on their home phones for calls throughout the continental United States and Canada. Many of the features that traditional home phone services offer at a premium, like voicemail, three-way calling, and call forwarding are available through trueVoice(SM) at no extra charge. E911 service is provided and consumers can manage their account through the myVoice portal.

Two types of EarthLink trueVoice(SM) start-up kits are offered, one with an ATA box, that works with a standard router and one with a Wireless G Broadband router with a built in ATA for home networking.

The ATA converts the analog signal to a digital signal. After the phone is plugged into the ATA, the phone receives a dial tone and a high-quality connection.

Both kits contain two ports for connecting with standard home phones or fax machines. Retail customers activate EarthLink trueVoice(SM) by calling 1-877-ELNK.Voice or visit http://www.earthlink.net/go/voiceactivate.

Calling plans start at $14.95 per month. For more information about EarthLink's voice services please go to http://www.earthlink.net/voice.
