SURREY, BC – BlueFur.com (http://www.bluefur.com), a Canadian Web hosting provider, today announced it has made a commitment to become more environmentally friendly. Specifically, it has begun a Carbon Neutral program, with the company annually planting one tree for each server it operates.
The company created the program by working with a service in Canada to determine the amount of trees required to balance its greenhouse-gas emissions. Because BlueFur.com cannot prevent energy usage for its servers, it hopes that by planting trees, it can offset its overall environmental impact.
“Global warming is creating a dire situation for the planet. We’ve all heard the evidence, most of us have read the reports, and frankly, it’s time we step up and do our part,” said Lisa Jones, BlueFur.com President. “Most importantly, we hope our leadership in doing this will convince other web service providers to follow suit.”
BlueFur.com will run the Carbon Neutral program indefinitely, and it hopes to become more environmentally friendly in other ways as they become available.
“It’s apparent that a lot more needs to be done to thwart the effects of global warming and the destruction of nature,” said Jones. “We will certainly be making this a focus in the coming months and years, and we certainly encourage our customers to do the same.”
