Web hosting company returns to its roots by marketing solely in its hometown of Richmond, Virginia. April 16, 2007; 12:45 AM
MECHANICSVILLE, VIRGINIA – International Web hosting provider Globalwebbrands.com (www.globalwebbrands.com) is not so international anymore. Though the company is keeping all of its existing users, Globalwebbrands.com now markets its services exclusively in its hometown of Richmond, Virginia.
Globalwebbrands.com already serves such local figures as Steve Martin, a member of the Virginia Senate, as customers, and has concluded that a local focus would be advantageous for the future. According to Globalwebbrands.com’s Founder and President Daniel J. Briere, “The Central Virginia region is underserved, and generally uneducated, when it comes to Web hosting services. While there are Richmond-based providers of Web hosting in existence, their services tend to be geared more towards larger companies. We’re offering something that is optimized for smaller businesses which might be new to the Internet, and want the personal service that a local company can provide.”
Offering Web hosting since January 1st, 2005, Globalwebbrands.com gained high brand-name recognition within the Web hosting industry, twice winning HostReview.com’s Top 10 Fastest Growing Web Host award in 2006. But the costs of international competition meant that Globalwebbrands.com met with difficulty in existing as a profitable, sustainable business. This is what caused the company to begin evaluating alternative business models.
“I decided that running the company on a strictly local basis would help ease some of the marketing costs, and also allow the creation of more personal customer relationships,” stated Mr. Briere.
